Behind The Idea
Missing Piece is an underlying belief that our current way of living is going to spell disaster for not only our generation but many, many more.
Everytime you load up Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok or whatever it may be you are met with people living their 'best lives' or rather claiming to. For many people this hits home. 'Why am I not in Dubai' 'Why don't I drive a better car' etc etc. When, in reality, everyone has a missing piece.
Now, you can either take this 2 ways. 1. 'Why can't I' This way of interpretation leaves the consumer feeling depressed and miserable. However, the second outlook is an incredible hunger, desire to be better.
This is called Koinophobia; The fear of being average
The Process
Around June 2022, I made the first Missing Piece Instagram post. However the idea and meaning had been stemming in me for years.
It was only until I was sat bored in a college lecture I had no interest in that I decided to pencil down my ideas and come up with a name.
Sketches slowly turned to research, which then turned into samples.
The first ever sample piece
After 2 samples it had came to summer 2022 and procrastination got the better of me.
2023 is full throttle.
